Den of Thieves Released
5 Phaophi – After weeks of tantilizing teasers expectations were high for the latest Ankhet expansion dubbed Mod 6.75, and by unanimous decision The Oracles have delivered another memorable experience.
Warning, spoilers ahead.
The story seems to revolve around a mysterious character, Gaunub, lord of Dzimba-dza-mabwe, who passionately seeks the plundered divinity stolen from the Apep. This glorious loot might have been his if not for the deception and manipulation of Eshu the Wanderer, whom he naively trusted to be his friend and ally.
It is somewhat difficult to decide but an early choice is presented nonetheless: side with Gaunub or motion to kill him. Selecting the latter is said to unlock a new area, The Overlord’s Compound, in which thugs and mercenaries run amuck. Choosing the former (probably does the same), please contribute your findings here, players are also welcome to submit their own error-free articles.
Those who venture deep into the compound may bathe in Titan Blood and run the possibility of encountering Kamenwati, who drops shiny Copper Deben! Hiding even further in the palace is the Avatar of Eshu. Be prepared for a fight; that is if you have the patience to find him.
Perhaps the most welcomed aspect of the new Mod is the introduction of various Scriptures, which allow for the conjuring of Auras. For a cost, these grant a temporary bonus to stats and abilities that can be stacked on other effects. Thankfully, each option has a corresponding description, encouraging disciples to choose the aura that best fits their future plans.
There is at least one other status effect introduced in the Mod besides those conjured through Aura. Disciples who “take out” certain Ankhet personalities are marked as Wanted and pursued relentlessly by backstabbing bounty hunters. Further, these Wanted renegades are rewarded handsomely for their ill deeds paid typically in the form of Bounty Chests, which are said to be even better than Bone Chests.
New camel edibles were noticeably absent, but at least riders have something else on which to spend their hard-earned Deben being that a small market exists within the Den of Thieves in which the only acceptable currency is camel coinage. Among the items for sale is a Metasis Ark, generally purchased in Agora specials, and an Analeptic Philter, the description of which suggests a relation to other artifacts that influence anima. Never fear my camel-deprived friends, Copper Deben may be exchanged for a small load of Kuk Charms, assuming you can afford it before the thieves sell out.
But it is Ka Fragments not Kuk Charms that is the most sought-after resource since the Den’s unveiling. In addition to the 1,800 fragments needed to complete this Mod, one-thousand fragments will be required for directions to Dzimba-dza-mabwe. Disciples may only hope that the choice mentioned earlier in this report does not come back to haunt them.
As for epic battles, Imenand, the first global kill appearing in this Mod, was dispatched in quite elegant fashion by Djeret Netjer, who converted to the path of Atum-Ra just moments prior to performing this historic feat.
More Additions
- The combat system has been tweaked, forcing players to click on in-battle commands (example: Strike, Scythe, etc.) to advance fighting. For those that prefer things the way they were before, an Auto-Strike option may be enabled in Preferences.
- Avatars no longer respawn at Rollover; they reappear after a certain period of time has passed.
- In an attempt to make Anubis and Ammut more popular their Ankhet abilities have been improved. |
